It’s hard to believe that 2015 has already come to an end. For Jody and I, it’s been a lot of fun but a lot of work. Thankfully, most of the work has been fun!
Our DJ business, DJ Goodwin, was busier than ever before with half of our weekends in 2015 dedicated to playing weddings or special events. We never could have imagined it, nor managed much more to be honest! And we’re booking all the way through fall of 2016 as we speak. Owning your own business is so invigorating and very challenging, we have learned, but that hasn’t stopped us from expanding. We launched our boutique DJ collective, The Music Faire, had an amazing turnout at our launch party dance party in November, and we will be showcasing at the Boutique Bridal Bazaar on January 17. We are so deeply grateful for all of the support from our friends, family, partners, and especially our clients. The fact that many have trusted us to ‘bring the party’ to the most important party of their lives is just crazy. We can’t thank you all enough!
The year brought some growth for my “real job,” as well. In April, I co-presented at the American Alliance of Museums annual conference in Atlanta on social media and audience research to a packed-out room. A month later, I was offered and accepted a position as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication at Hathaway Brown School and began in July after two years at the Cleveland Museum of Art. It’s been almost six months, and I’ve been super happy. I feel incredibly blessed that every place I have ever worked has truly been nothing short of world-class, and HB is no exception.
Jody has been busy creating some totally beautiful and functional decor made of wood. He has overhauled our little basement to make his own woodshop, and I am just in awe all the time at some of the things he is able to create. He is an artist and a perfectionist, and we can’t wait to show you more! In 2016, we are eager to finally open our online woodshop shop (ha!) and share some of the lovely things he’s creating. Boy’s got talent.
So that leads us to where you’re reading this story right now, Faire and Goodwin dot com. We purchased this domain in July 2014, and here we are almost a year and a half later reaching your computer or mobile screens. The time feels right…now.
Our goal for 2016 is to try and do things we’ve never done before (or at least haven’t in a long time). This is a place to share creations and creativity, endeavors and explorations, and reviews and revelations (not just ours!). Whether it’s wall art, a recipe, a new look, or a playlist to get you pumped at the gym or at your wedding, in 2016 we’re all about building.
Happy New Year & Happy New Project! Thanks for joining us!
Cheers to the future,
R+J
